How to use the eTolppa charging stations in the Student Village
There is a charging station to charge electric cars for tenants living in the Student Village area (Aitiopaikka, Ikituuri, Kuikkulankatu, Nummenranta, Tyyssija, Student Village East and Student Village West). The two charging places of the station, 12A 1 and 12A 2, can be found at the end of Student Village 12A (Parking area of Tyyssija, Picture 1). Both charging places of the station can simultaneously generate a charge of 22 kW.
Terms of use
- The charging station is reserved for use by persons living in the Turku Student Village Foundation’s buildings in the Student Village area (Aitiopaikka, Ikituuri, Kuikkulankatu, Nummenranta, Tyyssija, Student Village East and Student Village West). The user of the charging station must have a valid eParking parking right for one of the aforementioned housing locations. You can read more about getting a parking right on https://tys.fi/en/services/parking-spaces.
- Cars may be stored at the charging place during the charging only. The usage time of the charging place is limited to 4 hours per purchase. A parking disc must be placed in the car for the duration of parking. The disc must be placed at a clearly visible location inside the windscreen of the car to make the parking start time clearly readable from the outside.
- Charging is invoiced according to consumption. Prior to parking, the user of the charging station must add their credit card details on the eParking app or buy some balance on the app. If the added balance finishes or the credit card cannot be charged, the car must be removed from the charging place immediately. A parking ticket will be issued for parking in violation of these terms of use.
- The car must be removed from the charging place immediately after the completion of the charging. Parking control will issue a parking ticket if the car is stored at the charging place after the charging has finished.
- Charging places are not intended for any other use than for charging electric cars. If a car that is not being charged is stored at the charging place, parking control will file a parking ticket on the matter.
Instructions for using eTolppa charging stations
- The charging station has two charging places, 12A 1 and 12A 2. Both charging places have a normal heating pole and a type 2 charging plug (Picture 2).
- The cover of the charging station has place-specific QR codes (Picture 3).
- The charging station is used via the eParking app available for downloading at the App Store or the Google Play store. You use your e-mail address to log in to the app.
- Using the charging stations is subject to a fee. As of 18 Sep 2023, the fee is EUR 0.25 per kWh. TYS reserves the right to change the price.
- There is a menu on the left bottom corner of the app where you can enter the details of your car, add balance, and enter your credit card details (Figure 4, under “vehicles”, “balances”, and “payment cards”).
- To add a credit card, you need the number and holder of the card, the period of validity of the card, and the CVV number of the card. Approved payment methods for adding balance are presented in Figure 5. The charging station fees are based on charging power. For example, a one-hour charging at one charging plug will cost 22 kWh * 0.25 €/kWh = 5.50 € (charging price EUR 0.25 per kWh as of 18 September 2023).
- You can use the charging station only after you have added your credit card details or bought some balance.
- When you are ready to start charging, first plug in the charging cable of your car to the charging pole and then plug it into your car. After that, read the QR code of the charging place you are using on the eParking app. You can start reading the QR code by pressing the QR button on the bottom part of the app. Scan the QR code of your chosen charging place (12A 1 / 12A 2, Figure 3) and start charging. You can follow the charging status via the eParking app.
