Apartment offer

Waiting for an apartment offer takes a little bit of patience, but it's worth it!

Applications progress

TYS processes the application when the application contains all the necessary information and attachments. The application is valid for three months. When the three months are about to come to an end, you will be sent a reminder and you can then renew your application in the applicant’s service.

When an apartment offer is made to the application, you will receive a notification of the offer by e-mail. You can view the offer in the applicant’s service.

Waiting time for an apartment

The housing situation changes all the time, as new applications arrive, offers are accepted and applications are cancelled. It is possible to apply for several housing locations with one application, which means that a change of one application may alter the situation of several housing locations. Applications do not have queue positions as the situation lives in real time all the time.

The waiting time depends on which destination and what kind of apartment you have applied for. You can find the average and indicative waiting times for different housing locations and apartment types in the location search under each locations information.

Tips for those waiting for an apartment offer

  • Renew your application every three months so that it does not expire.
  • You can add, remove and change your locations during the application period based on your own wishes through the applicant’s service.
  • If you no longer need an apartment, please remove your application.

Tenant selection

The state supports the construction of TYS student housing. TYS’s tenant selection is regulated by the guidelines of The Housing Finance and Development Centre of Finland (ARA) and TYS’s rules.

Tenants are selected in accordance with the Equality Act and no one is discriminated on the basis of age, origin, nationality, language, religion, belief, opinion, political activity, trade union activities, family relationships, health status, disability, sexual orientation or any other personal reason.

Tenant selection is based on an assessment of the urgency of applicant’s need for housing. In the tenant selection, an income and wealth comparison is followed, in which case low-income applicants are given priority. The priority of applicants in a similar situation is determined by the application submission date. In August and September, priority will be given to new students moving in from out of Turku.

Editing the application does not change the original submission date of the application.
