The apartment rental operations of the Student Village Foundation of Turku (later “TYS”) requires the processing of personal data. Processing of personal data is based on customership, other appropriate affiliation or consent by the customer. Personal data are used for example for customership maintenance, customer satisfaction and other surveys, communication with customers, housing maintenance and marketing of apartments. TYS pay special attention to protecting the customers’ privacy and personal data, and comply with good data processing principles.
Personal data are mainly collected from the customers themselves. In addition, personal data are collected from e.g. the credit information register of Suomen Asiakastieto Oy and the population data system of the Population Register Centre.
In addition, TYS may collect data of the users’ terminals on their websites through cookies and other similar techniques such as web analytics (see more about this in Terms of use). As a rule, no collected data is released outside TYS, with the exception of situations where the ownership of the apartment changes and cooperating partners in accordance with the data protection plan.
According to the Personal Data Act, every person has the right to inspect which data concerning them has been recorded. The data access request cannot be made on the phone, as it must be given in writing and personally signed. Upon data access requests, the applicant must give their name, address and national identity number, and disclose whether they wish to inspect data related to a specific issue, all data or data for a particular period of time.
The customer has the right to demand the rectification, deletion or completion of any data concerning them in the register that is incorrect, outdated, incomplete or unnecessary for the purpose of processing.
The right to restriction means the right of the person to deny the data controller the use of the person’s data for direct marketing. One can also cancel a previously given consent for direct marketing at any time by notifying the restriction by e-mail at the address tietosuoja@tys.fi.
