In September, we looked for new tenant bloggers among our tenants and received a large number of great applications. The application period has now ended, and our tenants Elina, Rehan, Vilma and Veronika will start as our new bloggers in the beginning of November!
The tenant bloggers will take turns blogging every week. The first new tenant blogger to have her turn starting on 4 November is Elina. Get to know the tenant bloggers below and follow TYS on Instagram at @tysturku
Elina:
I’m Elina, a Finnish language student from the University of Turku.
I live in a two-room apartment in Nummenranta, where I moved to this past summer. I have lived in Turku for my whole life, but the Student Village area is not that familiar to me. So it’s a nice change of scenery!
I love using social media and I’m even planning a career in communications. So applying to become a tenant blogger felt like a natural choice right after I signed the tenant agreement.
I hope that my blog will help both me and others to find new sides to Turku and new favourites!
Rehan:
Hello! I’m Rehan Khalil, a second-year master’s student in Information and Communication Technology at the University of Turku, specializing in Software Engineering. I am originally from Pakistan, and I moved to Finland in 2023, and have called Turku my home ever since.
I live in a shared apartment at Pilvilinna, where I’ve stayed for over a year now. The atmosphere here, especially in autumn, is absolutely stunning. The golden hues of the season, combined with the peaceful surroundings, make it a perfect place to live and study. My time at TYS has been wonderful so far—I’ve enjoyed the sense of community and the convenience of being close to nature while still having access to the city center.
I applied to become a tenant blogger because I’m passionate about sharing my journey as an international student, hoping my stories can help others who are adjusting to life in Finland. Through my blogs, I want to offer a genuine glimpse into student life including practical tips for living in TYS, exploring Turku’s vibrant culture, and balancing studies with everyday life.

Hi there! I’m Vilma and I’m a third-year student of Media Studies in the University of Turku. Three years ago, I moved from Oulu to Tyyssija here in Turku, and I have really enjoyed living here! My comfortable studio apartment fits my needs perfectly. It’s my home base during the otherwise kind of hectic daily life. I applied to become a tenant blogger because I want to share pieces of my day-to-day life with TYS followers, along with tips, pieces of advice, and stories and mishaps of daily life. During my social media weeks I plan to keep the followers up-to-date with my active life while also adding some interactive elements to my posts.
