Get ready for delicious food, traditional sitz songs and a festive birthday atmosphere!

To celebrate TYS’s 60th anniversary, we’re organizing tenant sitz parties on two evenings at Juvenes Restaurant Block in Tyyssija (Inspehtorinkatu 12):

5th November 2026 from 5 pm – Sitz party in English The event is organized in collaboration with the Student Union of Turku University of Applied Sciences (TUO), the Student Union of the University of Turku (TYY) and Erasmus Student Network University of Turku ry (ESN Uni Turku). TUO and TYY will lead the singing at the Finnish-language sitz party, while ESN Uni Turku will take care of the singing at the English-language sitz party.

The theme of the evening is, of course, BIRTHDAY PARTY! Wear your student overalls, cape or other student organization attire (such as a college sweatshirt) if you have one, and add a touch of birthday party glamour to your outfit. Balloons, glitter, party hats and other creative, over-the-top accessories are more than welcome! The best-dressed guest in keeping with the theme will win a prize, so this is your chance to go all out!

TYS will provide all participants with a three-course dinner (drinks not included). Drinks packages will be available for purchase at the venue to suit your preferences (for more information about the drinks packages, please see the registration page). Please note that you are not allowed to bring your own drinks to the event. The event is for TYS tenants aged 18 and over.

And best of all: every participant will receive a wristband granting free entry to a secret afterparty, where the celebrations will continue into the early hours of the morning!

Registration for the sitz party opens on Kide.app on Friday 23rd October at 10 am. You can find the event link only on the Notices tab of your Tenant Pages. There are 150 places available for each evening. Registration ends on Sunday 25th October.

What is a sitz party?

Sitz, sits or sitsit, however you want to say it, are a Finnish (and Nordic) academic student event (table parties), where people eat, drink and sing songs. Sitz are “formal” happenings with a set programme, conference breaks, and specific rules that everyone must obey.

How to register:
