Join <strong>Sorting and Recycling in Finland \u2013 101 for International Students<\/strong>, a practical and fun course designed especially for TYS tenants.<\/p>\n<p>The course is held twice and one course takes place over <strong>two evenings<\/strong>. <strong>TYS tenants can participate free of charge.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Learn the basics of waste sorting<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During the first evening, you will learn:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Which waste categories are collected in Finland and why.<\/li>\n<li>Which waste bin each item belongs to.<\/li>\n<li>What kind of collection bins you should have in your home to make recycling easy in everyday life.<\/li>\n<li>What to do with waste that doesn\u2019t have an appropriate bin in your home building\u2019s waste collection area.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The course focuses on practical everyday situations, so you will leave with useful knowledge that you can immediately apply at home.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Get creative with recycling<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On the second evening, you will explore the topic more creatively and get a hands-on experience of useful recycling and saving ideas in everyday life. Participants may choose a custom project that they like, for example<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Make a pot from recycled materials e.g. for a store-bought potted herb (or, if one is brave enough, for one that they grow from the seed!) A way to get more harvests from one herb and enjoy some greenery in the kitchen during the cold dark Finnish fall &amp; winter months.<\/li>\n<li>Darn and mend a garment of choice.
