Or perhaps you\u2019re into communication, advocacy work or event planning? Would you like to become part of an international project and contribute to the creation of a positive energy district, together with other like-minded residents?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The 2021 launched RESPONSE project is looking for new peer mentors who will aim at increasing the knowledge about environmental and energy issues in the Student Village and inspire other residents to become involved. The mentor activities include e.g.:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>planning and creating new environmental activities to the Student Village<\/li>\n<li>planning and organizing small-scale environmental events in the Student Village<\/li>\n<li>designing and creating content on mentors own social media channels and promoting visibility (see: Instagram <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/energypositiveturku\/\">@energypositiveturku<\/a> ja Facebook <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/EnrgPositiveTku\">@EnrgPositiveTku<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>creating digital community regarding environment and energy topics<\/li>\n<li>mapping the views of the residents in different ways, e.g. by gathering short videos about how environmental and energy issues are present in the residents\u2019 daily lives as well as following the discussion in social media about these topics<\/li>\n<li>bring forth the resident perspective in the project when needed<\/li>\n<li>taking part in the mentor network activities, e.g. monthly meetings<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Being a peer mentor is estimated to take approximately 10-15 hours per month. The roles and the workload of individual mentors can be adjusted according to preferences. The mentors will be inducted to their role and the mentors whoa are already involved will support the new mentor. The mentors work as a group during mentor activities. Join in!<\/p>\n<p>There is no financial compensation for mentoring, but the peer mentors will gain valuable experience of e.g. communication, advocacy and organizing events as part of an international project and a chance to build valuable contacts for the working life. All mentors will receive a certificate for their participation. On a case-by-case basis, depending e.g. on the mentor\u2019s role and field of study, possibilities for study credits, thesis or internship can be explored. We hope for a commitment of at least one year to the mentoring. The peer mentoring as well as other resident cooperation in the project is coordinated by Turku University of Applied Sciences.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Became interested?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Apply for becoming a mentor by sending us a short (max A4) motivation letter and tell us:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>why you want to become a mentor<\/li>\n<li>why you would be a good mentor<\/li>\n<li>where do you live? If in Student Village, which location (Aitiopaikka, Ikituuri, Nummenranta, Student Village West or Student Village East<\/li>\n<li>your field of study or interest<\/li>\n<li>for how long you are able to commit to mentoring<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Send the motivation letter as an e-mail attachment by <strong>Tuesday<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>28<\/strong><strong>th\u00a0<\/strong><strong>February 2023<\/strong>\u00a0to\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:ritva.salminiitty@turkuamk.fi\">ritva.salminiitty@turkuamk.fi<\/a>.
