Moving around the worksite
The worksite marked on a picture below will be fenced. Due to safety reason, access to the worksite by external people is strictly prohibited. People moving in the area are requested to be careful and vigilant near the worksite and use the marked pathways. When using Inspehtorinkatu, please also pay attention to the worksite’s van and truck traffic, which may occasionally hinder your passage.
The allowed pedestrian routes go around the worksite. The pedestrian lane of Inspehtorinkatu’s on the worksite’s side will be rented to the worksite, and pedestrian will be rerouted to the other side of this street, where a temporary access path will be built. The bus stop number 451 (Inspehtorinkatu) will be moved towards the city for the duration of the construction work.
Communication during the project and contact information
TYS will forward Peab’s bulletins about the work’s progress and the future work stages to the local tenants (Aitiopaikka, Ikituuri, Nummenranta, Yo-kylä länsi) by email every month. Additionally, all work stages or changes to site arrangements that may cause disruptions as well as noisy work, water or power outages, changes to pathways or long-term exceptions to normal workhours will be reported to the tenants by email.
In addition, the steps of the building project are described in the TYS newsletters and in the status reports published on this website.

Frequently asked questions
- Can I receive compensation for my rent due to the worksite disturbances?
In most cases, rental compensation due to the worksite disturbances is not possible. However, each case will be assessed individually.
- Will I be put at the front of the apartment queue, if I apply for a transfer to another apartment due to the worksite disturbances?
In most cases, a tenant applying for a new apartment due to the worksite disturbances will not be placed at the front of the queue, but we will attempt to find an apartment of the same level for the tenant as soon as possible. For example, a tenant living in a one-room apartment with shared kitchen facilities cannot be placed in front of those queuing for an Aitiopaikka apartment, but it is possible to find a room in a shared apartment or a small one-room apartment quite quickly in locations where the queue is not long, if there are apartments available.
- What kind of disturbances can this worksite cause to my housing arrangements?
All work stages or changes to site arrangements that may cause disruptions as well as noisy work, water or power outages, changes to pathways or long-term exceptions to normal workhours will be reported separately via email.
- At what times will work causing disturbances be carried out in the worksite?
The worksite’s normal working hours are from 7 am to 4 pm on weekdays. Local tenants will be informed of any exceptions to these normal working hours by email. The construction project’s preliminary schedule is available on this webpage. The schedule can change during the course of the construction project, and these changes will be updated on the website.
- At what times will the work be carried out on weekdays, will there be work on the weekends?
The worksite’s normal working hours are from 7 am to 4 pm on weekdays. Local tenants will be informed of any exceptions to these normal working hours by email.
- The parking area in Student Village West will be removed from use, can I park in the courtyards instead after that?
When the parking area of Student Village West will be removed from use, the tenants are only allowed to park in areas reserved from the purpose. The tenants can use the free-of-charge parking spaces without heating poles in the Nummenranta parking area and the parking area at the end of Inspehtorinkatu. Remember to ensure that you have a valid parking licence for these parking areas through eParking. If necessary, you can reserve a parking space with a heating pole from the Student Village East or Nummenranta parking areas. These reservations are made via the eParking system. Instructions for using the eParking system are available at: https://tys.fi/en/services/parking-spaces/parking-license-on-eparking-system
- Why was the notice period for this project so short?
Many different operators and authorities are involved when launching a project as extensive as this. A construction project’s starting time depends on factors such as zoning, the building permit and the decisions of the Housing Finance and Development Center. Scheduling and predicting these is difficult, so all these have to be in order and the project must be ready to start before we can notify people of it.
- When can I apply for an apartment in the location being built?
You can start applying for an apartment in the location being built three months before the building is finished. The construction project’s schedule will be specified as the work progresses. You will be informed of this well in advance before applying for the new apartments can be started.
